Elden Ring Guide: How To Upgrade Your Sacred Flask

How do you upgrade your flask in Elden Ring? Enemies in FromSoftware’s latest title deal out plenty of damage, but you can heal yourself using an item called the Sacred Flask – but how do you upgrade it?

Elden Ring FAQ: Every Guide You’ll Need

Just like in the Dark Souls games before it, Elden Ring doesn’t give the player passive healing by default. Instead, you’ll need to use an item called the Sacred Flask to stay on your feet. In the beginning, it only has limited uses. This can make facing bosses in the later game quite tricky if you don’t upgrade it quickly.

So, how do you go about upgrading the Sacred Flask?

Elden Ring – How To Upgrade The Sacred Flask

First of all, there are two flasks for you to concern yourself with: the Flask of Crimson Tears and the Flask of Cerulean Tears. Crimson Tears restore your health points, whereas Cerulean Tears restore your FP. If you get confused between the two, they’re colour coded to match the colour of the bars towards the top of your screen.

There are two ways in which you can upgrade these flasks. One way is to increase the amount of uses each flask has. The other way is to increase how potent each flask use is.

Let’s start with the former. To increase the number of uses your flasks have, you’ll need to look for Golden Seeds. These can be found at the foot of ethereal saplings, which are scattered throughout the world of Elden Ring. Spend these at a Site of Grace to increase the total number of charges your flasks have.

To increase the potency of your flask, you’ll need to look out for Sacred Tears. These are found in the ruined churches that you spot while traversing the open world. Just like the Golden Seeds, spend these at a Site of Grace to improve your flask.

Each charge of your Sacred Flask is split across both the Crimson Tears and Cerulean Tears variants. So if you have 6 charges of your Sacred Flask, you can have 3 of each. Or 5 of one and 1 of the other. But you can’t exceed that number unless you spend Golden Seeds to increase it.
