Street Fighter 6 releases surprise PlayStation beta

Yesterday saw Capcom announce the surprise launch of a Street Fighter 6 beta for PlayStation users. Xbox and PC users will have to wait a bit longer.

In a Street Fighter 6 Showcase that aired last night, Capcom revealed that they would be releasing a demo as soon as the stream ended. Hosted by Lil Wayne, this was an announcement not many saw coming.

“Create your avatar, explore World Tour mode and start fighting,” announced the rapper.

Street Fighter 6 Beta Details

As mentioned, the beta was available immediately for PlayStation 4 and 5 users. However, for those who play on Xbox Series X/S or PC, you will unfortunately have to wait another week to get your hands on it. It will be released on these platforms on April 26.

Capcom recently posted a blog post that announced some details for the beta. However, it did not include a closing date and we are unsure of one at the time of writing this article.

The post did confirm that the beta would allow players to choose between characters Luke and Ryu. Additionally, you will be able to create your own avatar. Capcom also noted that this would carry through to Street Fighter 6’s full launch in June.

Multiplayer Mode Won’t Be Available During Demo

The demo will also test out the single-player World Tour mode, including One on One fights that will guide new players through the experience.

The downside to the demo is that it will not feature the game’s multiplayer mode or give access to every playable character. Only two of its commentators will be present meaning you will have to wait until June to get the full experience.

Street Fighter 6 will launch on June 2 and feature 18 fighters to choose from. This means that the beta is only a small part of what you can expect from the full title.
