Counter-Strike 2 is real and coming soon, journalist claims

According to an established esports journalist, Counter-Strike 2 could be announced and enter its beta as early as this month.

Journalist Richard Lewis is no stranger to announcing the latest Counter Strike news. Now according to Lewis, “a new version of Counter-Strike [is] on its way and that had been worked on for some time.” This was revealed when he spoke to an anonymous source. He also states:

“The new version is almost certainly set to be released under the working title Counter-Strike 2 and the tentative release date for the beta is in this month of March with April 1st at the outside.”

Lewis claims that this instalment in the CSGO franchise has been a priority of the Valve Team. This could explain why some of the current issues in the game have gone unfixed.

“The big priority is getting this out and then polishing it, fixing any bugs and bringing it up to the level people expect from CS,” said Lewis’ inside source.

We also learn that the game is “about ready to go” and has already been tested by the Valve team and professional CS players.

NVIDIA drivers for CounteR Strike 2

This news comes after it was discovered NVIDIA drivers were now supporting two, unknown apps: csgos2.exe and cs2.exe. It appears these have been implemented in time for the upcoming beta.

What else do we know?

CS 2 will also be running on the Source 2 engine. This should allow the game to be more optimised by running smoothly and improving graphics. However, this could affect players with more low-end PC setups.

The game is also rumoured to have improved matchmaking systems which will come as good news to its fanbase.
