A dream find.

Hundreds Of Rare Games Found In A Nebraskan Storage Facility

Hundreds of factory-sealed Nintendo and Sega games from the 80s and 90s have been found in a storage facility in Nebraska.

Nebraska based game reseller Gameroom recently came across hundreds of classic Nintendo and Sega games in an old storage unit (thanks, IGN).

Gameroom posted a video on its official YouTube showing off the collection. Apparently, the games were placed in storage after a local video game store shut down in 1994. And they were just left there until now. There were plenty of NHL, Madden, and other sports games that aren’t worth that much. But there was some absolute gold to be found there amongst the sports games.

The collection included factory sealed copies of Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy 3 for the SNES. On Price Charting, a new copy of Chrono Trigger is worth about $2400, or just under £1800. Essentially, Gameroom has stumbled upon a gold mine of rare finds. Other valuable SNES games they found included Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 4: Turtles in Time, and Sunset Riders.

Even copies of Aladdin on the Sega Genesis are worth hundreds. Gameroom noted it won’t be providing any details on the total value until everything is preserved and documented. It’s also worth pointing out that if it can get the sealed copies graded, the value can increase exponentially.

Gameroom has certainly lucked out with this find. And it’s certainly a bit ironic that a video game store clearly couldn’t keep things running, only for these games to be worth so much now.
