Online Pokemon Card Game Gets A ‘Limited Beta’ Next Week

Pokemon TCG Live is getting a “limited beta” next week in Canada, giving players their first look at the new online Pokemon card game.

Announced last year, Pokemon TCG Live is a new online version of the Pokémon Trading Card Game. It was also meant to launch last year, but received delays to sometime this year. Now, players in Canada will have the opportunity to take part in a “limited beta” starting February 22.

While only players in Canada are going to be able to try out the game, it does seem that this means the full release is ramping up. In an FAQ discussing the beta, it’s also noted that “any in-game progress made during the limited beta will be carried over to the game at global launch.”

There already is a Pokemon TCG app called ‘Pokemon TCG Online’. But there are plans to sunset the game once Live launches. However, fans will be happy to know that because both apps use the same Pokemon Trainer Club account. This means any cards players earned or bought in TCG Online will still be available to them in Live.

Both cards and accessories will be available. But the FAQ also notes that some content will not be transferable. This includes Pokemon TCG cards from the HeartGold & Soulsilver Series, in-game currency, and unopened products and bundles. Though it is also noted that unopened products and bundles will translate into a number of Crystals in Pokemon TCG live “proportionate to the number of their eligible unopened items.

A release date has not been confirmed for Pokemon TCG Live. So keep your eyes peeled for news of when it drops.
