CLASSICAL BLUE JEANS Unlock your inner composer! Noam Sivan, the Israeli composer and improvisation artist, leads a lively musical show where you are invited to participate actively in the music-making, regardless of prior experience. RPO concertmaster Juliana Athayde and other special guests join Noam for an improvised encore, where they amaze you by creating music based on themes suggested by the audience. This festive event, which opens with a delicious barbecue dinner, takes place for the first time at the scenic Bristol Harbour Resort. And, as always, the evening showcases traditional country fiddling – selections from Marc O’Connor’s Appalachia Waltz, performed by sisters Amy Sue and Elisa Barston, together with virtuoso bassist Dennis Whitaker. A family-friendly event!
FESTIVAL SERIES #3 – LakeMusic An evening of music inspired by water, opening with Debussy’s dreamy Reflections in Water. Jon Nakamatsu – the Van Cliburn-winning pianist and special friend of the our community – joins Rochester’s own Juliana Athayde for Brahms’ youthful Sonata in G major. The evening closes in true Canandaigua style, with Schubert’s beloved Trout Quintet. Claude Debussy: Reflections in Water
FESTIVAL SERIES #4 – Appalachian Spring Celebrate the beauty and power of nature through music! Puccini’s lyrical Chrysanthemums precedes one of the 20th century’s great masterworks, Stravinsky’s path-breaking The Rite of Spring, performed in a fiendishly difficult version for four-hands piano by the MayaNoam Duo. The season closes with a musical celebration: Copland’s beloved Appalachian Spring, led by RPO concertmaster Juliana Athayde. Giacomo Puccini: Chrysanthemums
