Is the reboot in trouble?

Perfect Dark Reboot Has Lost Its Game Director

It seems that Perfect Dark reboot developer, The initiative, has lost its game director. Does this mean that the reboot is in trouble?

Posted on ResetEra, Perfect Dark game director Dan Neuburger has seemingly left his position at The Initiative. He is now reportedly on the lookout for employment elsewhere. That’s at least according to an update on his LinkedIn profile.

Neuburger was employed at The Initiative for four years after working for the current Tomb Raider studio Crystal Dynamics. Furthermore, Crystal Dynamics is currently working with The Initiative in the development of Perfect Dark.

Neuburger is not the only departure

However, as reported by VGC, Neuburger is now the second high-profile departure from The Initiative. In February 2021, Perfect Dark design director Drew Murray re-joined Insomniac Games. With such high profile departures, it does look a little concerning for the prospects of the highly anticipated reboot.

Despite the departures at The Initiative, we hope that the development of Perfect Dark is progressing well, given the circumstances. E3 2022 is just around the corner, so hopefully, we’ll be treated to the first gameplay for the reboot.
