The hit indie game Among Us is finally headed to PS4 and PS5, alongside new exclusive content.
Announced via the game’s official Twitter account, the PlayStation version of Among Us will feature crossplay and online multiplayer:
“AMONG US – COMING TO PLAYSTATION. get ready to welcome a whole new crew on board!! Sparkles on PS4 and PS5 consoles later this year. Sparkles exclusive Ratchet & Clank skin, hat, and pet. Sparkles crossplay and online multiplayer. tell your friends but more importantly.. tell your enemies heh.”
Released in 2018, Among Us is an online social deduction game that gained popularity thanks to its innovative yet simple premise. The ongoing pandemic has also been attributed to the game’s success, as well as an unexpected surge in interest amongst streamers.
It’s also worth mentioning that the game costs next to nothing on Steam while also being free on iOS and Android.
While the PlayStation version of Among Us doesn’t have a release date, it’s expected to launch later this year. PlayStation owners will also get access to an exclusive Ratchet & Clank skin, hat and pet, which can be used in the game.
According to a recent PlayStation Blog post, the game’s developer, Innersloth, is excited to extend its community to include PlayStation owners:
“There is a lot we could say about Among Us, but truly the best part has been seeing the community gather around our indie title. From doodles to entirelive-actionn movies and countless streams, we’ve seen a lot of love pouring out for our little space beans. Thank you.
“We hope we can continue giving back that same energy! There are lots of updates we have planned for Among Us, and we can’t wait to take our PlayStation community along for the ride.”
Among Us is currently available on PC, Nintendo Switch, iOS and Android.
