The Dead Island 2 release date is set for launch in just over a month. For those who want a little reminder of what you can expect, we have put together this handy guide.
Dead Island 2 release date
Despite a series of delays (originally planned for February 2023), Dead Island 2 is set for release on April 21, 2023. The eleven week delay was unfortunately needed according to the creators, Dambuster Studios and Deep Silver.
“The delay is just 12 short weeks and development is on the final straight now; we’re going to take the time we need to make sure we can launch a game we’re proud to launch. For those of you who’ve been waiting for years, thank you for hanging in there with us,” they said via Twitter.
Dead Island 2 Platforms
Dead Island 2 will be available on PC via the Epic Store. This will be an exclusive release for Epic and so there may be a wait for it to hit Steam. This slasher-game will also be available for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X and Xbox One.
Teasers and Trailers
Dead Island 2 has not received a lot of cinematics over the course of its announcement. Its first cinematic was released back at E3 in 2014 and fans were left wanting more. Luckily, its Gamescom’s Announcement Trailer was launched back in 2022.
Gameplay – Slash and dash
Dead Island 2 promises to be a “unique formula of horror, dark humour and over-the-top zombie slaying.” With that being said, we can assume the gameplay will be reminiscent of how it was in its prequel released over a decade ago.
With a combination of gruesome combat and open-world navigation, the game promises a brand new gore system which allows you to tailor your combat. Additionally, the game will feature skill decks which you can learn more about here.
The combat itself offers the “most intense, visceral and gory first-person experience possible.” Each of the six playable characters will have their own unique weapons and skills (as well as dialogue and personalities). Furthermore, the developers have promised “the most advanced dismemberment system in games”. Fun right?

Dead Island 2 looks to be a fun (and gruesome) slasher game. Set in Los Angeles, fans of the area will see some familiar sights as they hack and slash their way through the landscape.
Although co-op mode remains somewhat of a mystery as of now, we will keep up to date on how it will be incorporated into the game.
