Metroid Prime 2 and 3 are reportedly headed to the Nintendo Switch. However, there is quite a major catch, apparently.
Following years of rumours, last week during a Direct presentation, Metroid Prime Remastered was announced for the Nintendo Switch. This was a remaster that improved on the original game that was released for GameCube back in 2002 in almost every way.
Metroid Prime Remastered shadow dropped
What’s more, not only was Metroid Prime Remastered suddenly announced, but it was also shadow-dropped and released on the very same day as the Nintendo Direct event. The remaster launched on the Nintendo eShop with its physical release to arrive at retail a few weeks later.
So naturally, fans are now wondering if the two Metroid Prime sequels will also get the remaster treatment. For starters, as previously mentioned, not only has the original game been rumoured to arrive for years, but so too has the Metroid Prime trilogy. Furthermore, if Nintendo is going to remaster the OG, surely the same can be said for the sequels, right?
Can we have all Metroid Prime games to be remastered for Nintendo Switch, please?
Well, that apparently might not be the case. As reported by Wccftech, industry insider Jeff Grubb responded to a tweet from a Metroid fan quoting a previous comment.
“When Jeff Grubb first spoke about Metroid Prime Remastered, he also said that his understanding was that Prime 2 & 3 would also be on their way, just not fully remastered. If that’s still the case, I’m still excited for these games to be accessible,” read the tweet from the Metroid fan.
However, Grubb replied to that tweet being straight to the point saying “correct”. Obviously, we should always take unconfirmed rumours and speculation with a pinch of salt. That being said, Jeff Grubb does appear to have well-informed sources.
