Final Fantasy 16 isn’t coming to PC, so buy a PS5 says the game’s producer, Naoki Yoshida. However, this news contradicts previous reports.
There have been a lot of questions as to whether Square Enix will be bringing FF16 to other platforms such as PC and Xbox Series X|S. After all, we do know for sure that it is coming to PlayStation 5.
Is Final Fantasy 16 coming to PC?
When Final Fantasy 16 had its reveal trailer in 2021, it stated that the highly anticipated RPG would be coming to PS5 as well as PC.
At the time there was no release date or window. However, in November 2022, Sony released a trailer featuring upcoming PlayStation titles.
In the PlayStation trailer from November 2022, it stated that FF16 would be a PS5 exclusive for six months. FF16 has a PS5 release date of June 22nd, 2023. This means that it should arrive on PC sometime during December 2023. Sadly, that might not be the case.
As reported by KnowTechie.com, FF16 producer Naoki Yoshida said during an interview for the Japanese website, Nice Video, that the RPG isn’t coming to PC.
Translated by Twitter user Genki, Yoshida reportedly said: “Nobody said a word about a PC version releasing. Why is it like a PC version is released six months later? Don’t worry about that, buy a PS5. Sorry, I went overboard. We did our best, so please look forward to it.”
So, what’s the deal with the Square Enix RPG?
At this time, unless Sony or Square Enix release a statement to reconfirm or deny that Final Fantasy 16 is coming to PC, we’ll be left in the dark.
It was indicated that the RPG would be coming to PC, however, Yoshida’s words are very conflicting. Perhaps the producer made a mistake or perhaps he’s correct? Either way, Square Enix needs to address these reports.
