Skyrim Guide: How To Get Strong Weapons Quickly

If you’re starting out fresh in Skyrim Anniversary Edition you might want to grab yourself some decent weaponry. There are a few places you can go to get some strong weapons early, many of those involve less than legal tactics. Our method is fairly simple and doesn’t involve getting in trouble with the law. Here is our guide to getting some strong weapons quickly in Skyrim Anniversary Edition.

Step One: Get To Whiterun

After leaving Helgen, you are encouraged to head to Riverwood before moving on to Whiterun. I say, skip Riverwood and head straight to Whiterun. You can head into the city to unlock fast travel if you want, but why we’re really here is to see our old friend Bjorlam. He runs the horse cart service just outside the city, and he will take you to any of the major cities. Our destination; Solitude.

Step Two: Run to the Hills

To the north and west of Solitude is a range of mountains. When you arrive off the cart, you want to head north into the hills. You’re looking for the Thalmor Embassy, west of there is the Ironback Hideout. Dispatch the bandits here and search the camp. On a table, you will find a note from a vampire hunter. The note will tell you that he has been turned into a vampire and gone to his favourite spot to wait for the sun to come up. He asks that you continue his work, and to access his gear you must find the key on his remains.

Step Three: A View To Die For

Reading the note begins the quest, so from here you can follow your compass. The location you want is just south of the Thalmor Embassy, you’ll know it when you find a pile of ash. Inspect the remains to find the key to Ironback Hideout’s cellar. Walk or fast travel back to the hideout to see what’s inside.

Step Four: Reap you Rewards

The cellar door is under the tent in the ruined building. Use the key to enter, and behold your treasures. Beyond a second locked door you will find swords, bows, axes, knives, several crossbows and plenty of bolts. There’s a veritable arsenal for you to take and begin your adventure with. Yes, technically the previous owner did expect you to take these weapons and carry on their hunt. He’s dead though, so who’s to know? Most of the weapons are made of silver so they certainly are well suited to vampire killing, but you do what you will.
