But it's still coming!

‘Internal Delay’ Is Reportedly Why We Haven’t Heard News Of Elden Ring

If you’ve been wondering lately why you haven’t heard any recent news on FromSoftware’s Elden Ring, we perhaps now know why, as it’s claimed that the game has suffered from an internal delay.

According to a reports from ResetEra [via AltChar] Elden Ring was apparently supposed to launch this year before moving to a release window of March 2021.

However, according to reports (and thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic), an internal decision was apparently made to delay the game by two to three months.

Elden Ring is said to have begun its development by FromSoftware in 2017 before it was revealed to the world at E3 2019. However since that time we’ve not seen or really heard of any news other than the odd bit of gossip.

Though it has to be said that out of all the developers you could choose from, FromSoftware is perhaps the one that you can have the most confidence with.

However it is a little concerning that no gameplay whatsoever has been officially revealed as of yet. Maybe that will change at The Game Awards later this month?

Many had hoped that Elden Ring might release by the end of 2020 which obviously is not the case, and according to ResetEra insider taepo, this was the initial plan for FromSoftware.

Sadly, as with most things this year, the COVID-19 pandemic has scrapped and delayed so many of our plans, and Elden Rings seems to be no exception.

It is said that after FromSoftware became aware that Elden Ring would not release by the end of 2020, the developer had hoped for a March 2021 release window.

However, taepo believes that we could now be looking at a release date of June of 2021.

To be fair, even without the global pandemic, FromSoftware will only release Elden Ring when it’s good and ready, and rightly so.

We must add that these are currently unconfirmed rumours so all speculation must be taken with a pinch of salt.

To add further fuel to the speculative fire just last month Xbox chief Phil Spencer revealed that he has played a build of Elden Ring and described it as FromSoftware’s “most ambitious game ever.

So to be somewhat optimistic, if this highly-anticipated RPG is to release by midway through 2021, it’s not outside the realms of possibility that we might get a new tease at The Game Awards this month.
