Seven years of secrets

Witcher 3 YouTuber Finds Amazing Secret Seven Years After Release

One last secret has been found in The Witcher 3, but this one takes at least seven years to pull off.

The Witcher 3 first came out in 2015, and like many games, is full of secrets. Some are going to be harder to find than others, of course. But one fan recently found one secret in The Witcher 3 that is probably the hardest to achieve at all, as this one involves the character Vivienne, from the Blood and Wine expansion.

As part of her questline, Geralt finds her partially transformed into a bird. The helpful witcher that Geralt is, he offers to lift the curse, but warns she might only live as long as the animal once the curse is lifted – around seven years.

what is the secret?

Vivienne accepts that offer, and departs for Skellige. Now, YouTuber xLetalis has found that actually waiting seven in-game years results in the character dying. You can do this by meditating in the game for seven years, around 2500 days. Or you can use console commands to speed up time. And players can then find Vivienne dead in Yennefer’s room at Kaer Trolde Harbour.

Speaking to IGN, CD Projket Red’s acting lead quest designer Philipp Weber noted the irony of the easter egg being found seven years after the game first released:

I’m not sure if it’s the last secret, but it for sure is pretty close,” said Weber to IGN. “Everyone hid so many details during the last months of development that people are probably still going to find something new one day. For sure this is the Easter Egg I hid the most out of all the ones I did, so it’s quite impressive it was finally found.

Secrets like this, even if this one is quite sad, are always an exciting thing to find. And often show that games are more than what they seem on a surface level.
